DISCHARGE PERMIT MODIFICATION
The public comment
period is being extended. The comment period is being extended from Monday,
February 24, 2014 to Monday, March 10, 2014.
The
LDEQ, Office of Environmental Services, is accepting written comments on a draft
modification of a Louisiana Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (LPDES)
permit prepared for Air Liquide Large
Industries, U.S. LP, Air Liquide Geismar
Utility Services, P.O. Box 488, Geismar,
Louisiana 70734. The facility is located at 4266 Highway 73,
Geismar, Ascension Parish.
The principal discharge from this source made into the Mississippi River, waters of
the state classified for primary contact recreation, secondary contact
recreation and fish and wildlife propagation, and drinking water supply. Under the SIC 4961, the
applicant proposes to add the discharge of previously monitored process wastewaters,
process area stormwater runoff, cooling tower blowdown, boiler blowdown,
miscellaneous wastewaters and sanitary wastewaters to their existing discharges
authorized under LPDES permit LA0006220.
During
the preparation of this permit, it has been determined that the discharge will have
no adverse impact on the existing uses of the receiving waterbody. As with any discharge, however, some change
in existing water quality may occur.
This permit is being
modified to discharge previously monitored wastewaters from
Methanex USA, LLC (Proposed Draft LPDES Permit LA0126756). In
accordance with LAC 33:IX.3105.B.2, only those permit limitation and conditions
pertaining to the draft modifications are open to public comment.
