LPDES Permit


WATER & WASTEWATER UTILITIES, INC., ST. BENEDICT SUBDIVISION
 WATER DISCHARGE PERMIT

The LDEQ, Office of Environmental Services, is accepting written comments on a  Louisiana Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (LPDES) permit prepared for Water & Wastewater Utilities, Inc., St. Benedict Subdivision, 211 Hulco Drive in Scott, LA 70583.  The facility is located at the intersection of Braquet Road and Cormier Road in Carencro, Lafayette Parish.  Upon the effective date of the final permit, the LPDES permit shall replace the previously issued LPDES permit.

The principal discharge from this  source  made into a roadside ditch; thence into Bayou Carencro, waters of the state classified for primary contact recreation, secondary contact recreation, propagation of fish and wildlife and agriculture.  Under the SIC  4952, the applicant proposes to discharge treated sanitary wastewater from a privately owned treatment works serving the St. Benedict Subdivison.

During the preparation of this permit, it has been determined that the discharge will have no adverse impact on the existing uses of the receiving waterbody.  As with any discharge, however, some change in existing water quality may occur.

The principal discharge from this  source  made into the Mississippi River, waters of the state classified for primary contact recreation, secondary contact recreation, fish and wildlife propagation and drinking water supply.  The facilty also discharges waters to Bayou Braud, waters of the state classified for primary contact recreation, secondary contact recreation and fish and wildlife propagation.  Under the SIC  2869, the applicant proposes to discharge treated process wastewater, process and non-process area stormwater runoff, utility wastewaters, groundwater recovery wastewater, sanitary wastewater, maintenance wastewaters, hydrostatic test wastewaters, and miscellaneous wastewaters from an existing styrene manufacturing facility.

Honeywell International, Inc. proposes to renew and modify their Type I surface impoundment solid waste permit.  The surface impoundment was used to manage and dispose of gypsum and calcium chloride, plant and effluent treatment plant wastewater and filter press solid waste material generated at the Honeywell Baton Rouge Facility.
